The Bugle Greenspace Proposal

In order that Imerys's proposed development of the Goonbarrow site can have more eco credentials and deliver more sustainable outputs, Bugle Greenspace suggested that the development not extend to the green fields that border site to the North between the Goonbarrow works and Roche Road. Instead this area should be set-aside to benefit the local community by providing green space for the following activities:

a) Allotments for local people to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

b) A community composting scheme to benefit the allotments and reduce the waste produced by the growing community of Bugle.

c) Areas set aside and managed to continue providing habitat for the rich wildlife in the area, including bats, owls, frogs, newts and a wide variety of other bird and insect species.

d) Educational activities for local school children and adults based around land and waste management, food production and wildlife conservation.

e) A large pond area to help enhance wildlife, provide a facility for recreational fishing and help with drainage issues in the area.

f) A covered area for a farmers market to sell local produce.
