Picnic in the Park a great success
Around 200 people joined in the fun at Bugle's second annual Picnic in the Park. Volunteers had an early start on Sunday 18th July 2010 erecting the marquee, setting out tables and decorating the picnic area. The weather did not look promising but even some Cornish mizzle could not dampen the organiser's high spirits. By midday the BBQ was sizzling, games were being played and even the sun decided to make an appearance. Spud and spoon races, sack races, wellie boot throwing, a soggy sponge race and water balloon catching all gave everyone a chance to burn off some energy and have a laugh. Meanwhile the cake and jam table, plant table and bug hotel and bird feeder table were all creating interest. Background music was provided thanks to Mike Jenkin and his accordian with some good old Cornish tunes. Later Alan Jenkins and his group gave the event some smooth guitar melodies. The event was attended by families from Bugle, Penwithick, Stennalees, St Austell and even as far as Launceston. Many thanks to everyone who came and supported the event, which raised over 300 pounds which Bugle Greenspace will use to fund further activities.
