Revised Plans

Bugle Greenspace were concerned that the first plans put forward by Imerys for the Goonbarrow Eco town site showed large amounts of green space rich in wildlife being lost to housing. No provision for wildlife areas or allotments were shown on the original plans.

Following initial feedback and discussion with Bugle Greenspace, Imerys have revised their concept plans for the Goobarrow Eco-town to that shown below. Imerys point out that this plan is merely conceptual and may still be subject to change.

We now hope that Imerys will give the greenspaces shown on the plans to the community of Bugle to be used and managed by local people in ways that they want.  Ideas have included havens for wildlife, allotments, picnic and play areas.

Bugle Greenspace would propose the following uses for the greenspaces shown on the above development plan:

Areas 3,6,8    – Managed for wildlife.

Area 5            - Refurbish existing stone buildings for interpretation centre including and education room, storage for tools, changing & locker-room facilities, toilets.

Area 7            – Allotments.

Area 15          – Managed for wildlife, but including dog walking trails (poo bins) and pond stocked for recreational fishing.

Area opposite 6 & 7 – Managed for wildlife, but also allow for informal recreation (e.g. picnic benches, interpretation and family activities/events).

Area 14          - More formal mixed use ‘plaza’ with bench seating, a play area and possibly even a band stand to link with Bugle Band Fesitval (needs further investigation to confirm if useful).

Areas 13 and roadsides       - Plantings to benefit community and wildlife (e.g. a mixture of fruit trees such as apple, pear, damson and plum, plus others such as hazel, blackthorn and rowan).

We would welcome any feedback, ideas and alternative suggestions from other residents in Bugle on any of these proposed uses. Please email or telephone us if you have any.
